Corduroy. So cool in the summer. So warm in the winter. If denim is the fabric of the working man, corduroy is that of the thinking man. Almost as comfortable as sweat pants and with the right shirt, it can be worn at even the chicest of parties.

Miles Rohan is the founder of the Corduroy Appreciation Club, a members-only social club for people who feel just this way about the fabric.

Nublu

Nublu in the East Village is an outpost that began in 2002 and inside it's like a little clubhouse where friends get together and just play music with each other. The magic under the little blue light that marks the entrance to the club emanates from a group of players from all over the world with regulars hailing from Brazil, Eastern Europe, The UK, The US and everywhere in between. What's more is that they happen to be among the most sought after musicians around. They've regularly shared stages and made recordings with Herbie Hancock, David Byrne, Sun Ra, Beck and John Zorn to rattle off a few.

Zebulon

Zebulon is a cafe and concert venue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn run and staffed by musicians from around the world.  There's never a cover and the live music is often on the ethnic side. The place has a somewhat bohemian, old-school, left bank vibe or maybe it's more of a modern day Fez-type joint. Either way, it's a cool spot. Their menu features small plates like paninis, cheeses, pates, sausages and salads.
