James Cohan Gallery features contemporary art, painting, sculpture, video, installations, photography and editions by established and emerging American and international artists.
In September 1999, James Cohan Gallery opened on West 57th Street with an inaugural exhibition of early work by Gilbert and George. In 2002, the gallery moved to its present location at 533 West 26th Street in Chelsea and maintains a diverse exhibition program with one or two thematic group exhibitions per year in addition to the solo exhibitions of gallery artists.
James Cohan Gallery also established a new gallery space in Shanghai in July 2008. It is located in the heart of the French Concession and occupies the ground floor of 1930s villa set inside of a lane on Yueyang Road.
