The Maspeth Bird store is one of last pigeon specialty stores left in New York City. Mumblers (pigeon keepers) come from all over the area to inspect the birds that arrive on a daily basis. Many of the pigeons are collected or hijacked during local pigeon wars and later inspected and sold at the store.
In additon to trafficking, the store houses nearly 700 pigeon coops and a variety of pure bred birds, that sell from upwards of 2 dollars.
