Scarface is a 1983 crime film, written by Oliver Stone and directed by Brian DePalma. The film stars Al Pacino as Cuban refugee, Tony Montana and chronicles his rise and fall as a cocaine kingpin.
The film is a remake of the 1932 Howard Hawks' film of the same name and recently has gathered a cult following amongst the American Hip-Hop community.
As part of his research for the script, Oliver Stone infiltrated a group of drug dealers as well as the Miami police force and the DEA. He used "real life" crime scene photos to inspire many of the crime scenes in the film and set out to Paris to write the script and recover from his own addiction to cocaine.
Although now considered by the AFI to be the 10th greatest gangster film of all time and the 8th greatest cult film of all time, Scarface originally received and "X" rating and was met with mixed reviews.

There is something I learned
There is something I learned from this movie: when it comes to drugs even the drug lords don't always have a happy ending. As for drug users, most of them don't have a happy ending as addicted people are not free people.
