Membership Philosophy
A strikingly original artistic, athletic and social movement has begun in the heart of Manhattan. SPiN Members are people who like table tennis, or merely enjoy watching, drinking, eating, talking, smiling, flirting, playing backgammon, reading the newspaper, doing head stands etc.
Despite our Park Avenue address, our state-of-the-art world class table tennis facilities, and our breathtaking interior design, as a SPiN Founding Member you will enjoy table tennis prices 50% off standard table rental rates.
Table Tennis can be played in any combination of attire, so a locker room, with a shower and an over night valet Paddle Storage service is our solution to the variety of circumstances you might have. Members can safely store their paddle in our specially designed paddle vault.
SPiN doors will be closed to the general public several nights each week to host members only tournaments, professional player exhibitions, parties and events. As a member of SPiN you will have exclusive access to these events with as many as 3 guests.
Evidently the rationale is some kind of pick up palace, with exclusivity (most genuine multi hour ping pong lovers excluded by irrational prices) guaranteed by 40/hour rates. But then how many places left that let you play ping pong in decent conditions?
Getting lots of publicity with Sarandon's star power but doubt if it is very busy, is it?
An Ok place. Love the idea of a ping pong only "lounge" just like there are pool halls. But the service wasn't that good and the prices were steep. Great concept, poor execution. I mean 40 bucks for an hour of ping pong, and we were kicked off the table really rudely by some chica with a clipboard and an attitude. If I wanted attitude playing ping pong I'd go to my parents house and they'd ask me why I never visit. Also, the music was the worst I've heard in more than 10 years in NYC. Really poor DJ.
One thing to keep in mind, is that while Spin is very high end, it is also expensive to play there as opposed to other venues.
look lets be real. i'm not sure who reads this stuff but to whom it might or might not concern:
i dont know - i mean - i've had lots of people tell me they were my friends over my 35 years. lots of people say they thought i was cool - or not cool. i've even had a few say they loved me. and its not like i didn't want to beleive them. i even said it back. i guess, more or less, just for self convincement purposes. but really the only thing i think i really, truly, from the bottom of my soul LOVED was ping pong. god bless the sport of PING PONG.
