The Jazz Gallery is a not-for-profit cultural center located in lower Manhattan which provides an international venue where the youngest generation of professional jazz musicians can be nurtured, giving them an audience for their performances and a stage upon which to assemble their bands. The Gallery encourages established musicians to present new projects and collaborate with emerging artists in mentoring roles. Further, the Gallery, which opened in 1995, provides a space where visual arts, theater and poetry inspired by jazz can be exhibited. From 1995-2000 the Gallery was known for its visual art and historical exhibitions; live music was presented in thematic series related to the exhibitions. Since the summer of 2000 the Gallery has functioned primarily as a performance venue, concentrating on emerging artists. It has become known as "The most imaginatively booked jazz club in New York." (NY Times); "New York's #1 jazz venue." (Daily News); and "The best place to hear live music in New York." (Time Out New York).

The Jazz Gallery performance series is funded in part by grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, Presenting Program, the Department of Cultural Affairs of New York City, the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, the Greenwall Foundation, the Jerome Foundation, the Aaron Copland Fund for Music and the New York Community Trust.
