If the striking, high-rise, glass-covered exterior doesn't catch your attention amid the Lower East Side's residential buildings, then surely the buzz surrounding its glitzy rooms, on-site spa and bright blue pool will.

Another high-end offering from the brain trust behind boutique beauties Gild Hall and 6 Columbus, Thompson LES has 18 floors of industrial, loft-like rooms that manage to look spacious even though most are just under 400 sq ft. Cute touches include beds that have lightboxes for headboards and pillows with various messages on them. Views from the rooms are fantastic, but nothing beats the scenic sweep from the rooftop bar (for guests only). If the city stress gets to you, head to the hotel spa for some rest and relaxation. Or burn off that nervous energy in the 3rd-floor pool - if you don't mind swimming over the massive portrait of Andy Warhol painted on the bottom.
